About the Journal
About TA'SHIL
TA'SHIL: Cendekia Journal of Islamic Studies (CJIS) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Santri Cendekiawan Academic Press and managed through Cendekia Journal Hub. The journal provides an academic forum for Islamic studies grounded in the Qur'an, authentic Sunnah, and the scholarly heritage of Muslim scholars, while remaining open to rigorous contemporary research and interdisciplinary discussion relevant to its field.
The name TA'SHIL reflects the journal's commitment to returning scholarly discussion to sound foundations, sources, and principles. The journal welcomes original research, conceptual studies, and critical examinations that contribute to the development of Islamic scholarship with clear methods, accountable use of sources, and academic integrity.
Qur'anic/Sunnah Foundation
QS. An-Nisa: 59 — "...If you disagree about anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger..." Ta'shil means returning all knowledge to its evidence (dalil) and foundational principles (usul).
Meaning of the Name
It affirms the character of CJH scholarship: every discussion of Islam stands on evidence (dalil), not mere opinion, and the term is familiar among students of the Islamic sciences.
Focus and Scope
TA'SHIL welcomes manuscripts in the following areas:
- Tafsir and 'Ulum al-Qur'an.
- Hadith and 'Ulum al-Hadith, including takhrij and hadith criticism.
- Aqidah and Islamic thought.
- Fiqh and usul al-fiqh.
- Sirah, Islamic history, and civilization.
- Contemporary Islamic studies grounded in relevant textual and scholarly evidence.
Manuscripts whose primary focus is Islamic education, Islamic educational management, Arabic language, Islamic psychology, health sciences, Islamic economics and business, or communication and international affairs may be redirected to another CJH journal whose scope is more appropriate.
Types of Manuscripts
TA'SHIL accepts:
- Original research articles, including library research, historical research, normative studies, and field research.
- Conceptual or thematic review articles that analyze a defined Islamic issue through coherent textual and scholarly evidence.
- Book or turath studies examining the content, methodology, intellectual context, or contribution of a classical or major scholarly work.
Manuscript Languages
Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian, English, or Arabic.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts first undergo editorial screening for scope, format, academic suitability, and similarity. This initial screening is expected to take approximately one week.
Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise using a double-blind peer review process. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's scholarly contribution, use of sources, methodological clarity, argumentation, accuracy, and suitability for publication. The normal peer-review period is approximately four to six weeks, although complex manuscripts or reviewer availability may require additional time.
Editorial decisions may be: accepted, minor revision, major revision, or rejected. When revision is requested, authors are normally expected to return the revised manuscript within two weeks unless another deadline is stated by the editor. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewer reports, the author's revisions, and editorial considerations.
Accepted manuscripts proceed to editing, copyediting, layout, proofing, and scheduling for the nearest available issue.
Section Policies
All submissions must fall within the journal's focus and scope and comply with the Author Guidelines and article template. Manuscripts must be original, academically accountable, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal. The journal may conduct an initial editorial screening and return manuscripts that are outside the scope, incomplete, technically unsuitable, or clearly below the journal's minimum scholarly standard before external peer review.
Publication Frequency
TA'SHIL is published six times a year, in January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Open Access Policy
TA'SHIL provides immediate open access to its published content in order to support wider dissemination and exchange of scholarly knowledge. Readers may access published articles without subscription charges.
Reuse of published material is governed by the journal's Creative Commons license. Users remain responsible for proper attribution and for complying with the applicable license terms.

- Maintain confidentiality throughout the editorial and review process.
- Avoid discrimination based on personal or institutional background.
- Manage conflicts of interest and recuse themselves where impartiality may be compromised.

- Avoid using unpublished manuscript content for personal advantage.
- Identify major uncited sources, questionable overlap, or possible ethical problems when noticed.
- Complete reviews within the agreed period or promptly notify the editor if unable to do so.
Plagiarism and Similarity Policy
All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening. The journal's working similarity threshold is a maximum of 20%, excluding properly quoted material, references, and text such as Qur'anic verses or hadith that may legitimately recur across scholarly works.
A similarity score is not treated as the sole measure of plagiarism. Editors may reject a manuscript for plagiarism, inappropriate paraphrasing, unattributed translation, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other misuse of sources even when the numerical similarity score is below the threshold.
Article Submission Charges
TA'SHIL does not charge an article submission fee or peer-review fee. Article submission charge: IDR 0.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
An Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 100,000 is payable only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
No payment guarantees acceptance. Editorial and peer-review decisions are independent of payment.
Funding and Support Service
TA'SHIL is published by Santri Cendekiawan Academic Press and managed through Cendekia Journal Hub. Operational support, publication fees, sponsorship, grants, or institutional assistance do not determine editorial outcomes. Where a specific article or journal activity receives external financial support, the relevant funding information should be disclosed transparently.
Generative AI Policy
For Authors
Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies may be used only as supporting tools and must remain under meaningful human supervision. Permitted uses may include language improvement, readability, translation assistance, idea organization, or limited technical support, provided the author verifies the result.
Material use of AI must be disclosed in a "Use of Generative AI" statement before the bibliography, identifying the tool or service, the purpose of use, and the extent of human review and editing.
AI must not replace the author's critical reasoning, source verification, interpretation, argumentation, or original scholarly contribution. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, references, analysis, and conclusions of the manuscript.
For TA'SHIL specifically, generative AI must not be treated as an authoritative source for Qur'anic text, hadith text, hadith grading, translations, or classical-source references. These elements must be checked against reliable primary or academically accountable sources.
Suggested declaration:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [PURPOSE]. The author(s) subsequently reviewed, verified, and edited the output and take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript."
For Reviewers
Reviewers must preserve manuscript confidentiality and must not upload confidential manuscript content to external generative AI systems where doing so could compromise confidentiality, copyright, or author data. AI must not replace the reviewer's own scholarly assessment.
For Editors
Editors must not use generative AI to make final scientific or editorial judgments. Confidential manuscript material, reviewer reports, and editorial correspondence must not be uploaded to external AI systems when this would compromise confidentiality. Limited administrative or technical use may be permitted under human oversight when privacy and confidentiality are protected.
Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Notices
When a significant error is identified after publication, the journal may issue a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction depending on the seriousness of the issue. Retraction may be considered in cases involving plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, duplicate publication, serious authorship misconduct, major ethical violations, or findings shown to be unreliable.
The journal should preserve the scholarly record by clearly linking any correction or retraction notice to the original article and stating the reason for the editorial action.
